  Abstract:  

The study deals with the role of two Transylvanian personalities, the politician István Apor and the Jesuit priest Pál László Baranyi in the accomplishment of the religious union from Alba Iulia, in 1697–1701, which led to the foundation of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church.
